At 551 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located near Indiana Harbor, moving east at 15 to 20 knots. Locations impacted include. Indiana Harbor, Calumet Harbor, Michigan City, Burns Harbor, Marina Shores at Dune Harbor, and Hammond Marina.

This includes Interstate 80 in Indiana between mile markers 38 and 40.
