Hot temperatures are expected over South-Central Texas today and continues through the middle of this week. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s over most areas today and above 100 degrees across parts of Val Verde County. Heat index values will climb into the 104 to 108 degree range over much of the I-35 corridor, coastal plains and Val Verde county. Those spending extended time outdoors and not acclimated to this heat could be susceptible to heat related illness if not taking proper heat precautions, such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks out of the sun and heat.

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Texas. Trinity River at Liberty affecting Liberty County. Trinity River at Riverside affecting Trinity, Walker, San Jacinto and Polk Counties. Trinity River near Moss Bluff affecting Chambers and Liberty Counties. For the Trinity River. including Crockett, Riverside, Romayor, Goodrich, Liberty, Moss Bluff. Minor flooding is forecast. For the Navasota River. including Normangee. Major flooding is forecast. * WHAT. Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Navasota River near Normangee. * WHEN. Until further notice. * IMPACTS. At 18.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding begins as three channels merge into one below State Highway 21. There is widespread inundation of the flood plain in the vicinity of the gage with the river more than 1.5 miles wide. Long Trussel Road in northeast Brazos County below State Highway 21 becomes inundated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 11:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 19.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:00 PM CDT Sunday was 19.5 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.2 feet late tonight. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History.
