Hot temperatures are expected over South-Central Texas today and continues through the middle of this week. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s over most areas today and above 100 degrees across parts of Val Verde County. Heat index values will climb into the 104 to 108 degree range over much of the I-35 corridor, coastal plains and Val Verde county. Those spending extended time outdoors and not acclimated to this heat could be susceptible to heat related illness if not taking proper heat precautions, such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks out of the sun and heat.
