AND THE LOWER MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE **OPHELIA NOW A TROPICAL DEPRESSION** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - All watches and warnings have been canceled * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - None * STORM INFORMATION: - About 170 miles west-southwest of Ocean City MD or about 80 miles west of Norfolk VA - 37.0N 77.6W - Storm Intensity 35 mph - Movement North or 355 degrees at 9 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ Ophelia is now a Tropical Depression and will continue to lift north through Central Virginia overnight. All Tropical Storm headlines have been discontinued. Conditions will continue to improve overnight and into tomorrow. Remaining impacts include: * Dangerous marine and high surf - Dangerous marine conditions are expected tonight into early Sunday due to the strong winds and high seas. Seas remain elevated at 8 to 12 ft into Sunday. Large breaking waves of 3 to 5 ft will result in dangerous surf conditions and a high risk for rip currents. * Heavy Rain - heavy downpours could cause localized minor flooding of roads and low-lying areas, especially across central Virginia and on the Eastern SHore. * Winds - Winds are no longer Tropical Storm force and may gust to around 30 mph through morning. * Coastal Flooding - Areas of minor to moderate coastal flooding are possible during high tide cycles through this evening.
