The combination of drying fuels, northwesterly winds around 15 mph with gusts around 25 mph, and relative humidity values dropping into the lower 20s will result in an increased fire danger across northeast North Carolina. The North Carolina Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning and has cancelled all burning permits until further notice. The NC Forest Service will continue to monitor conditions. Residents with questions can contact their NC Forest Service county ranger or their county fire marshal's office.

Low relative humidity values in the upper teens to lower 20s combined with wind gusts of 20 to 25 mph, and drying fuels will result in an increased fire danger across Central and Eastern Virginia. Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential ignition source. including machinery. cigarettes. and matches. Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly. Virginia residents are reminded that open burning is prohibited before 4 pm each day through April 30th.
