The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a * Flood Warning for. Northwestern Fairfax County in northern Virginia. Prince William County in northern Virginia. The City of Fairfax in northern Virginia. The City of Manassas in northern Virginia. The City of Manassas Park in northern Virginia. * Until 115 AM EDT Tuesday. * At 711 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to showers and thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Localized amounts between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. * Some locations that will experience flooding include. Centreville. Reston. South Riding. Herndon. Fairfax. Vienna. Lowes Island. Mantua. Pimmit Hills. American Legion Bridge. Mclean. Potomac. Linton Hall. Oakton. Sterling. Chantilly. Tysons Corner. Wolf Trap. Great Falls. Merrifield. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.

FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 115 AM EDT TUESDAY FOR NORTHWESTERN FAIRFAX AND PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTIES AND THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, THE CITY OF MANASSAS AND THE CITY OF MANASSAS PARK. At 859 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated slow moving showers and isolated thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The Fairfax County 911 Center reported that Lawyers Road was closed at Whippoorwill Road due to high water. Creeks and streams will continue to rise due to excess runoff. Some locations that will experience flooding include. Centreville. Reston. South Riding. Herndon. Fairfax. Vienna. Lowes Island. Mantua. Pimmit Hills. American Legion Bridge. Mclean. Potomac. Linton Hall. Oakton. Sterling. Chantilly. Tysons Corner. Wolf Trap. Great Falls. Merrifield. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
