For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents. * WHERE. Southwest Suffolk, Southern Queens and Southern Nassau Counties. * WHEN. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until midnight EDT tonight. For the High Rip Current Risk, until 9 PM EDT this evening. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS. Widespread minor to locally moderate coastal flooding, with up to 2 feet of inundation above ground level, is expected for the Tuesday afternoon into evening high tide. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront may become flooded. * BEACH EROSION AND FLOODING IMPACTS. Breaking waves of 4 to 7 ft will cause beach flooding and erosion, with scattered areas of dune erosion during the time of high tide. The potential for localized overwashes is low at this time, limited to the most compromised dune areas. * SWIMMING IMPACTS. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. Localized minor coastal flooding is possible with the Wednesday afternoon into evening high tide.
