A period of moderate to heavy rain is expected on today into Friday as low pressure moves up the coast. The rain will fall on a primed snowpack south of the mountains, leading to significant melt. The combination of rain and snowmelt will increase flows in rivers and streams, some of which could reach critical levels. * WHAT. Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible. * WHERE. Portions of southwest Maine, including the following areas, Coastal York and Interior York and New Hampshire, including the following areas, Coastal Rockingham, Eastern Hillsborough, Interior Rockingham, Merrimack, Strafford and Western And Central Hillsborough. * WHEN. From 11 AM EDT this morning through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS. Small streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Rainfall up to 2 inches will combine with over an inch of snowmelt runoff to cause urban, low lying, and small stream flooding.
