At 242 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10 miles east of Midland, or 13 miles southwest of Albemarle, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD. Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE. Radar indicated. IMPACT. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include. Ansonville, Norwood, Oakboro, Mount Gilead, Uwharrie Haven, Covington, Pekin, Lake Tillery, and Blewett Falls Lake.

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Haw River near Bynum. * WHEN. From this morning to late tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS. At 11.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. The river widens up to 400 feet across. It floods pastureland on the right bank and woodlands on the left. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 6:01 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 11.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 6:01 AM EDT Wednesday was 11.4 feet. - Forecast. Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Haw River at Haw River. * WHEN. Until late tonight. * IMPACTS. At 18.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. Overflow begins on both banks at the water treatment plant. At 20.0 feet, There is significant overflow on the right bank opposite the water treatment plant. Water also reaches the Red Slide Park upstream of the Main St. Bridge. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 5:45 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 18.6 feet. - Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 5:45 AM EDT Wednesday was 19.0 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.8 feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage late this afternoon. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History.
