At 523 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southwest of Carrboro, or 10 miles southwest of Chapel Hill, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD. Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE. Radar indicated. IMPACT. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include. Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Jordan Lake, Bynum, Crosswinds Campground, Fearrington, Cane Creek Reservoir, and Crosswinds Boating Center.

* WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE. A portion of central North Carolina, including Davidson, Forsyth and Guilford counties. * WHEN. Until 700 PM EDT. * IMPACTS. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 501 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Kernersville, Clemmons, King, McLeansville, Huntsville, Lewisville, Summerfield, Gibsonville, Stokesdale, Walkertown, Pleasant Garden, Jamestown, Rural Hall, Colfax, Oak Hollow Marina, Sedge Garden and Lake Brandt. This also includes Interstates 40 and 85 and Highway 421 through the Triad, and Belews Creek and Horsepen Creek. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
