Nearshore and Open Waters from St Joseph to South Haven MI. * Until 545 PM EDT. * At 417 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 11 nm west of St. Joseph Light, moving northeast at 40 knots. HAZARD. Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots and large hail. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in structural damage. * Locations impacted include. South Haven Light, St. Joseph Light, and St. Joseph.

The areas affected include. Nearshore and Open Waters from St Joseph to Grand Haven MI. At 300 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and large hail that were moving out of the Chicago area and across southern Lake Michigan. Storm motion was to the northeast at 40 knots. Special marine warnings will likely be required later this afternoon for the waters between St Joseph and Grand Haven. Boaters should consider heading for shore before the storms arrive.
