* WHAT. Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE. Portions of southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. * WHEN. Through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Areas of moderate to heavy rain will expand east from southeast Missouri into southern Illinois and far western Kentucky through this morning. Training showers and storms will result in rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hours locally, and flash flooding may develop where this heavy rain occurs.

Mississippi River at Chester. * WHEN. Until early Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS. At 28.0 feet, Unleveed islands near Chester and the prison farm floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 10:30 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 27.9 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:30 AM CDT Thursday was 28.2 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 29.1 feet early Sunday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday morning. - Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
