SMWCHS The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a * Special Marine Warning for. Coastal waters from Savannah GA to Altamaha Sound GA out 20 nm . including Grays Reef National Marine Sanctuary. * Until 400 PM EDT. * At 304 PM EDT, the leading line of an area of strong winds associated with thunderstorms over Beaufort County were located along a line extending from 13 nm northwest of Wassaw Sound Buoy to near Savannah River Entrance, moving southeast at 20 knots. These winds will move into the Savannah River Entrance shortly. HAZARD. Wind gusts 35 knots or greater. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include. Motherlode Barge. Buoy K C. Ossabaw Sound. Savannah Buoy. Wassaw Sound Buoy. Channel Buoy 5. Sea Buoy 2w.

Portions of central, east central, and southeast Georgia, including the following counties, in central Georgia, Dodge, Laurens, Montgomery, Telfair and Wheeler. In east central Georgia, Emanuel, Johnson and Treutlen. In southeast Georgia, Toombs. * WHEN. Until 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Areas of heavy rain will continue into the early evening. Isolated areas may see up to 5 inches of rain.

* WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE. Portions of southeast Georgia, including the following counties, Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham and Evans and southeast South Carolina, including the following counties, Beaufort and Jasper. * WHEN. Until 615 PM EDT. * IMPACTS. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 316 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated widespread showers and thunderstorms with torrential rainfall extending from Denmark and Nevils east through parts of the Savannah Metro Area into Hilton Head. AS much as 1 to 3 inches of rain has fallen in some areas this afternoon. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall, resulting in minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Hilton Head Island, Pooler, Bluffton, Port Royal, Tybee Island, Springfield, Pembroke, Godley Station, Savannah International Airport, Downtown Savannah and I-16/I-95 Interchange.
