SMWKEY The National Weather Service in Key West has issued a * Special Marine Warning for. Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida from Ocean Reef to west end of Seven Mile Bridge out 60 nm. Bay and Gulf Side from Craig Key to Halfmoon Shoal out to 5 fathoms. Florida Bay including Barnes Sound, Blackwater Sound, and Buttonwood Sound. Hawk Channel from west end of Seven Mile Bridge to Halfmoon Shoal out to the reef. * Until 830 AM EDT. * At 743 AM EDT, strong thunderstorms with possible waterspouts were located along a line extending from 6 nm east of South Rips to Money Key, moving southeast at 5 knots. HAZARD. Waterspouts, wind gusts 34 knots or greater, and small hail. SOURCE. National Weather Service Meteorologist. IMPACT. Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats, cause considerable damage to vessels and create suddenly higher waves. Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots, suddenly higher waves, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. * Locations in the warning include. Channel Key Pass Light, Bonefish Tower, Tennessee Reef Light, Long Key Viaduct, Money Key, 409 Humps, and East Turtle Shoal Light.
