Patches of dense fog have developed over a large portion of central North Carolina, with visibilities at many locations dropping briefly to a half mile or less. Fog may be worse in low areas and near bodies of water or wetlands. This fog is expected to persist through mid morning. Drivers this morning are urged to use extra caution. Slow down, maintain extra distance ahead of you, and be prepared for sudden drops in visibility.

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City NC has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in North Carolina. Neuse River At Kinston affecting Jones and Lenoir Counties. For the Neuse River. including Kinston. Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT. Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Neuse River at Kinston. * WHEN. From late Friday night until further notice. * IMPACTS. At 14.0 feet, Water overflows into lowlands adjacent to the river. Water access docks are also affected. At 16.0 feet, Flooding of the campground at the Nature Center is expected. Water encroaches onto other properties along the south side of the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 7:15 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 13.2 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Saturday morning and continue rising to 15.6 feet early Tuesday afternoon. Several homes threatened by water in northwest Greene County near HWY 58. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 8:00 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:00 PM EDT Thursday was 13.0 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.1 feet just after midnight tonight.
