The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Thursday. Unhealthy levels of ozone can cause throat irritation, coughing, chest pain, shortness of breath, increased susceptibility to respiratory infection, and aggravation of asthma and other respiratory ailments, especially with children and the elderly.
