An increasing risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding is anticipated over far northern Iowa Friday evening and overnight. Though storms may be ongoing Friday afternoon, the heaviest rainfall is expected late Friday evening to around dawn Saturday morning. Some uncertainty remains as to the exact axis of heaviest rainfall, but current indications are that the heaviest rainfall will be nearer the Iowa Minnesota border. If you live in or near the watch, please monitor later statements for updates. Review flooding safety plans now and be prepared if you must take action. * WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE. Portions of north central and northwest Iowa, including the following counties, in north central Iowa, Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Kossuth, Winnebago and Worth. In northwest Iowa, Emmet and Palo Alto. * WHEN. From Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
