Near-record temperatures and a deeper-than-normal June snowpack will result in large, potentially destructive, wet avalanches through the weekend. *WHERE. The mountains of Colorado above about 11,500 feet where there is an existing snowpack. *WHEN. Through Sunday evening *IMPACTS. Large wet avalanches may release naturally threatening backcountry travelers attempting to climb or ride on high peaks in Colorado *PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS. FFWBOU The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for. Southwestern Adams County in northeastern Colorado. North Central Arapahoe County in northeastern Colorado. * Until 630 PM MDT. * At 332 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 inches in 30 minutes. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD. Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE. Radar indicated. IMPACT. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, gulches, roads, and poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include. Eastern Aurora, Bennett, Manila Village and Watkins. This includes the following streams and drainages. Northeastern Douglas County in northeastern Colorado. * Until 645 PM MDT. * At 552 PM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Parker to Castle Rock, or along a line extending from 18 miles southeast of Denver to 34 miles north of Colorado Springs, moving south at 10 mph. Rises in small streams and creeks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 448 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in the advisory area due to thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that may experience flooding include. Southwestern Aurora, eastern Centennial, Parker, Arapahoe Park and Foxfield.
