For the New River at Galax, major flooding is forecast. For the New River at Allisonia and Radford. Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT. Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE. New River at Radford. * WHEN. From late Friday night to Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS. At 17.0 feet, All of Dedman Center lower parking lots are flooded. At 20.0 feet, Flooding along sections of Hazel Hollow road (State Route 626) on Pulaski County side of the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 3:15 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 4.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Saturday morning to a crest of 19.2 feet Saturday evening. FFWRNK The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for. Carroll County in southwestern Virginia. Eastern Grayson County in southwestern Virginia. Wythe County in southwestern Virginia. The City of Galax in southwestern Virginia. * Until 600 AM EDT Friday. * At 1003 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated bands of heavy rain continue to pass across the warned area this evening, with rainfall rates of between 1 and 2 inches per hour. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen since this morning. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible in the warned area through dawn on Friday. Flash flooding is ongoing, with numerous flooded creeks and streams, as well as several closed roads due to flooding. HAZARD. Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE. Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include.
