Issued By NWS Brownsville TX Broadcast Time 06/09/2024 03:41 CDT

Daytime high temperatures this afternoon ranging between the mid 90s to lower 100s coupled with dewpoints in the mid 70s could result in heat indices topping out between 108-115 degrees for an hour or two this afternoon particularly along parts of the Rio Grande Valley. If working outside today, be sure to continue to take the necessary measures, that is to drink plenty of water, wear loose- fitting and light-colored clothing, and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned locations. Be sure to check on elderly and inform neighbors and relatives. Provide shade and fresh water for outdoor pets and livestock and check the backseat of your vehicle when transporting children.
