Hot temperatures and elevated heat indices expected across the Southern Edwards Plateau and the Hill Country today and through the middle of this week. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s for most of the Hill Country while values will climb above 100 degrees across Val Verde county and portions of Kinney and Edwards Counties. Heat indices are expected to peak in the 102 to 108 range across these regions. Those spending extended time outdoors and not acclimated to this heat could be susceptible to heat related illness if not taking proper heat precautions, such as drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks out of the sun and heat.
