The areas affected include. Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM. New York Harbor. At 819 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a broken line of embedded strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located near Cliffwood Beach, moving northeast at 15 knots. The strong thunderstorm will be near. Raritan Bay around 825 PM EDT.

* WHAT. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE. Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following counties, Bergen, Essex, Passaic and Union and southeast New York, including the following counties, Rockland and Westchester. * WHEN. Until midnight EDT tonight. * IMPACTS. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. Fast responding rivers and streams will have to be monitored over the next few hours. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 855 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Yonkers, Paterson, Passaic, White Plains, Bloomfield, Hackensack, Orange, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ridgewood, Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn, Rutherford, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, Caldwell, Nyack, Tappan and Harrison. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
