The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Minnesota. Cannon River at Northfield affecting Rice and Dakota Counties. .Heavy rain has fallen overnight causing the Cannon River at Northfield to rise above flood state. * WHAT. Minor flooding is occurring, minor flooding is forecast, but moderate flooding is possible. * WHERE. Cannon River at Northfield. * WHEN. From early this morning to Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS. At 899.0 feet, Laird Stadium at Carleton College begins to flood; west gymnasium threatened. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 330 AM CDT Monday, the stage was 897.3 feet. - Recent Activity. The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 330 AM CDT Monday was 897.3 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to a crest near 898 to 899 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 897.0 feet.

* WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE. Portions of central and east central Minnesota, including the following counties, in central Minnesota, Sibley. In east central Minnesota, Carver and Scott. * WHEN. Until 815 AM CDT. * IMPACTS. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 409 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Belle Plaine, Jordan, Gaylord, Arlington, Winthrop, Henderson, Gibbon, New Rome, Mn Valley State Rec Area and Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area.
