The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 900 PM CDT Friday was 704.3 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise to 711.4 feet Friday, June 28. Additional rises are possible thereafter. - Flood stage is 702.0 feet. - Flood History. This crest compares to a previous crest of 711.6 feet on 03/29/2011.

Numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue across southern Minnesota this evening into overnight. This additional rainfall, coupled with saturated soils and very high levels on area streams and rivers, will lead to a continued threat of flooding into tonight. Both overland flooding and local stream/river flooding are expected. * WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE. A portion of south central Minnesota, including the following counties, Blue Earth, Le Sueur, Rice, Steele, Waseca and Watonwan. * WHEN. Until 215 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 223 PM CDT, Local law enforcement reported local flooding due to heavy rain in the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Mankato, Owatonna, Faribault, North Mankato, Waseca, St. James, Lake Crystal, Eagle Lake, Madelia, Janesville, Blooming Prairie, Waterville, Mapleton, Medford, New Richland, Madison Lake, Morristown, St. Clair, Ellendale and Elysian.
