SMWMKX The National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan has issued a * Special Marine Warning for. Lake Michigan nearshore and open waters to mid lake from Port Washington WI to Winthrop Harbor IL. * Until 1130 PM CDT. * At 1025 PM CDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 11 nm southeast of Port Washington to 7 nm west of Pleasant Prairie, moving east at 35 knots. HAZARD. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE. Radar. IMPACT. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Strong thunderstorms will remain over mainly open waters.

The areas affected include. Nearshore Waters from Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor. Open Waters from Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor out to Mid Lake. At 1020 PM CDT, Doppler radar and surface observations indicated a front capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This front was located along a line extending from near Wind Pt. to near Kenosha to 9 nm northeast of McHenry, moving southeast at 25 knots. This front with gusty winds will be near Waukegan Harbor around 11 pm. Locations impacted include. Winthrop Harbor and Waukegan Harbor.
