KOTZEBUE...SELAWIK...NOORVIK...BUCKLAND...DEERING...CANDLE... COUNCIL...HAYCOCK...PILGRIM SPRINGS...SERPENTINE HOT SPRINGS... TAYLOR...NOME...WHITE MOUNTAIN...GOLOVIN...UNALAKLEET... STEBBINS...ST MICHAEL...ELIM...KOYUK...SHAKTOOLIK...GAMBELL... SAVOONGA...BREVIG MISSION...TELLER...WALES...DIOMEDE... MOUNTAIN VILLAGE...EMMONAK...ALAKANUK...KOTLIK...PILOT STATION... ST MARYS...SCAMMON BAY...MARSHALL...NUNAM IQUA...PITKAS POINT 236 PM AKDT SUN SEP 25 2016 ...BERING SEA STORM TO IMPACT WEST COAST TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY... A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM PASSING THROUGH THE BERING STRAIT TUESDAY NIGHT AND OVER THE WEST COAST WEDNESDAY WILL PRODUCE A PERIOD OF STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING. THE WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST AND CONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THE DAY WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING. SOUTHWEST AND THEN WEST WINDS 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUST TO AROUND 50 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY ALONG THE COAST. WATER LEVELS ALONG THE COAST WILL RISE AS THE WINDS PUSH STORM SURGE AND BREAKING WAVES ON SHORE. COASTAL RESIDENTS SHOULD EXPECT THE POSSIBILITY OF HIGH SURF, COASTAL EROSION AND MINOR COASTAL FLOODING BEGINNING LATE TUESDAY AND CONTINUING THROUGH THE THURSDAY MORNING. SOUTH OF THE BERING STRAIT...STORM SURGE VALUES WILL BEGIN TO RISE WEST OF GOLOVIN THROUGH THE BERING STRAIT TUESDAY EVENING TO THE 1 TO 3 FEET RANGE AS WELL AS ALONG THE YK DELTA COAST THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. AS A STRONG FRONT FRONT PASSES OVER THE COAST WEDNESDAY MORNING WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO SWITCH TO A WESTERLY DIRECTION AND WATER LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO RISE RAPIDLY ESPECIALLY OVER EASTERN NORTON SOUND WHERE STORM SURGE VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 3 TO 5 FEET ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON FROM NEAR STEBBINS NORTH ALONG THE COAST THROUGH UNALAKLEET AND GOLOVIN. HIGHEST STORM SURGE VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 5 TO 6 FEET IN NORTON BAY WEDNESDAY EVENING. HIGHEST STORM SURGE VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO REACH THE 4 TO 5 FOOT RANGE NEAR NOME LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING. NORTH OF THE BERING STRAIT...STORM SURGE VALUES ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE RAPIDLY AS WINDS SHIFT TO THE SOUTHWEST EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING TO WESTERLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. STORM SURGE VALUES IN THE 2 TO 4 FOOT RANGE ARE EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE NORTH COAST OF THE SEWARD PENINSULA WEST OF CAPE ESPENBERG ESPECIALLY NEAR SHISHMAREF WEDNESDAY MORNING. STORM SURGE VALUES IN THE 2 TO 4 FOOT RANGE ARE ALSO EXPECTED ALONG THE COAST NORTH OF CAPE KRUSENSTERN WITH A 2 TO 4 FOOT STORM SURGE EXPECTED AT KIVALINA AND RED DOG DOCK WEDNESDAY EVENING. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE WEST WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON WITH STORM SURGE VALUES EXPECTED TO RISE RAPIDLY TO THE 3 TO 4 FOOT RANGE ABOVE TIDE LEVEL OVER EASTERN KOTZEBUE SOUND INCLUDING KOTZEBUE AND DEERING. MODEL GUIDANCE ON THIS POTENTIAL STORM CONTINUES TO CONVERGE ON STORM TRACK, STRENGTH AND TIMING, HOWEVER SUBTLE CHANGES IN STORM TRACK AND STRENGTH WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS ON THE TIMING AND LOCATION OF HIGH SURF AND POTENTIAL COASTAL FLOODING CONDITIONS. COASTAL RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE SITUATION FOR UPDATED FORECASTS AND POTENTIAL WARNINGS.
