Brief Description Flood Warning
Detailed Description A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in western and southern Indiana. East Fork White River. Muscatatuck River. Wabash River. White River. .Extensive river flooding continued Monday in western and southern Indiana. The main crest on the White River is nearing Petersburg in Pike County . the crest on the East Fork White was at Shoals in Martin County and the secondary crest on the Wabash River was approaching Vincennes. The White River in southwest Indiana will crest by Tuesday evening . with the Wabash River not cresting until Friday. The rivers will remain near crest level for 2 to 4 days. Upstream heavy rains on Friday evening in central and southern Indiana will slow the fall of the rivers in southern Indiana after passage of the crest and will prolong flooding possibly into August. For the month of July. flood levels along the White River in southwest Indiana will be the highest since July 1979. Flood crests in Lawrence and Martin Counties were were 3 to 5 feet higher than those of August 2009. High water along the Wabash River at Mount Carmel is expected to be about 2 feet lower than levels of late June. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions. Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river conditions. The Flood Warning continues for The Wabash River at Riverton. * until Thursday July 30. * At 11:00 AM Monday the stage was 20.7 feet. * Flood stage is 15.0 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast. * Forecast. The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by Wednesday before midnight. * At 20.7 feet. Leaverton Park at Palestine, Illinois extensively flooding including the campground area. Rodeo area still dry at this level. Most if not all local unimproved roads leading to the Wabash River in the Palestine area are impassable by any land vehicle. Extensive backwater flooding of Minnow Slough. Sugar Creek and Lamotte Creek in Palestine area. Numerous river cabins surrounded by water across the river from Merom Bluff. Backyards of a few residences southeast of Palestine along East River Rd flood. &&
