Detailed Description SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES- SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF...CRATER LAKE...CRESCENT LAKE... DIAMOND LAKE...UNION CREEK...HOWARD PRAIRIE...SISKIYOU SUMMIT 239 PM PST WED NOV 19 2014 .HEAVY RAIN...STRONG WINDS...THEN SNOW TO AFFECT AFFECT MOUNTAINS FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THOSE PLANNING TO TRAVEL INTO THE MOUNTAINS FRIDAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND CAN EXPECT MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS...FOLLOWED BY SHARPLY DROPPING SNOW LEVELS ON SATURDAY WITH ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL. PLEASE PREPARE FOR THESE CONDITIONS NOW. A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH THE AREA ON FRIDAY AND SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY...PEAKING FRIDAY EVENING AND OVERNIGHT...WITH WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH POSSIBLE. SNOW WILL NOT BE AN ISSUE INITIALLY WITH THIS STORM. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE ABOVE 7000 FEET DURING THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION. MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED FRIDAY EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. THEN...AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT...SNOW LEVELS WILL BEGIN TO LOWER. SNOW LEVELS WILL REACH BETWEEN 4000 AND 5000 FEET ON SATURDAY. SNOW TOTALS SATURDAY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT SHOULD BE 4 TO 8 INCHES FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5000 FEET...INCLUDING HIGHWAY 140 NEAR LAKE OF THE WOODS...WITH HIGHER VALUES POSSIBLE AT CRATER LAKE AND A FEW INCHES POSSIBLE ALONG INTERSTATE 5 AT SISKIYOU SUMMIT. CONFIDENCE IN STORM TIMING AND PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS IS NOT HIGH YET...BUT OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS WE WILL REFINE THE FORECASTS AND PROVIDE MORE SPECIFICS.
