Brief Description Flood Advisory
Detailed Description The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Flood Advisory for the Mississippi River. Mississippi River Near Arkansas City affecting Chicot. Desha. Bolivar and Washington Counties Mississippi River Near Greenville affecting Chicot. East Carroll. Issaquena and Washington Counties Mississippi River At Vicksburg affecting Madison. Tensas. Claiborne. Jefferson and Warren Counties/Parishes Synopsis. The river crest on the Ohio River at Cairo, IL was raised 5 feet today in response to rainfall on the ground and expected rainfall over the next 3 days. Rainfall from 2 to 4 has already fallen across the Upper Mississippi River above the confluence of the Ohio River. River crests prior to remnants of Tropical Storm Bill were already expected to rise above flood stage above Cairo on the Mississippi River. Remnants of tropical storm Bill is expected to drop 2 to 4 inches of rainfall over the next 3 days from Northwest Arkansas across South Missouri and up the Ohio River. This will translate to river crests of 2 to 3 feet below flood stage from Memphis, TN to Vicksburg, MS. The crest at Natchez will rise to flood stage. Even for the areas where crests are below flood stage, impacts could be significant due to its impacts on agriculture within the levee system. From Vicksburg to below Natchez on the Mississippi side of the river where there are no levees, farmers grow crops very close to the river this time of year. Many acres of crop land could be flooded with this expected rise. The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a * Flood Advisory for The Mississippi River Near Greenville. * until Saturday July 04. * At 4:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 38.6 feet. * Flood stage is 48.0 feet. * Forecast. Rises from the Upper Mississippi River and the rainfall from remnants of Tropical Storm Bill over the next 3 days will cause the river to rise to near 45.0 feet by Friday July 03. * Impact. At 45.0 feet. Lower Lake Ferguson Road is closed. Warfield Point Park is closed. * Impact. At 44.5 feet. Road to Bunge Corporation grain elevators is under water. * Impact. At 43.5 feet. Lower Lake Ferguson Road begins to flood. * Impact. At 42.0 feet.
